TOWERS 99 AS TOTTON END HAVANT HOPES ON DAY ONE

Western Australia opener Luke Towers put his surprisingly lean Premier League form behind him with a blistering 99 as Totton & Eling sent Havant crashing to a 57-run Southern Electric Twenty20 Cup first round defeat at Havant Park.
The Melville youngster treated the Sunday teatime crowd to a boundary strewn blitz and shared a significant stand with James Manning (54) as Totton, last season's beaten finalists, effectively batted Havant out of the game with 187-3 in 20 overs.
Havant lost Steve Dean first ball and gradually subsided to 130-9, with last pair Phil Loat and Jez Ord salvaging some pride from an incepid performance.  Rob Franklin took 3-16 as Havant closed at 130-9.
Bashley (Rydal), who visit Havant in the ECB National Club Championship zone semi-final next Sunday (June 14), beat Paultons by six wickets in yesterday's other opening round tie.
Neil Taylor and Ross Grierson each took three wickets as Paultons were restricted to 116-7 - a target Bashley polished off with Gavin Bailiff (44) and Andy Sexton (36) at the helm.
