PLAYERS FROM OVERSEAS

Posted below is a matrix issued by the UK Border Agency, which sets out the types of visas overseas visitors need to enter the UK. The type of visa and what the individual can do and not do in relation to playing cricket, coaching, attending coaching courses, and receiving payment.  This will be of particular relevance to clubs thinking about engaging overseas players this season.

Visas are only obtainable from the country of origin and clubs are requested to ensure all UK entry credentials are strictly in order before entering into any arrangement for the 2012 season.

Visa Type Marked 1, 2, 3 & 4 appear to encompass the requirements of the SEPCL. A coaching qualification and CRB check or equivalent is still mandatory in accordance with Clause 4.4 – 4.4.2 of the SEPCL Rules & Regulations.

Clubs are reminded, as per SEPCL Administrative Rule 4, Clause 4.1.1 NO PAYMENTS MAY BE MADE TO ANY PLAYER, OVERSEAS OR OTHERWISE, FOR PLAYING IN THE SEPCL.

It is understood that heavy fines can be imposed by UK Border Agency and HMRC should irregularities occur with the playing and/or payment of overseas players.

"Clubs requiring further information should contact the UK Border Agency, not SEPL officials."
