HOOK EASE TO VICTORY IN ECB INDOOR SIXES

Hook & Newnham Basics eased through to the ECB indoor six-a-side championship regional finals with a comfortable two-wicket win over Newport on the Isle of Wight.
They now travel to Taunton on February 26 to face either Poole Town or Great Bedwyn for a place in the west final.  The Dorset and Wiltshire champions lock horns at the Hurn Cricket Centre on Sunday week, February 19.
Although they lost four wickets chasing Newport's modest 79-4, Hook were never in danger of losing and reached their target with three overs to spare.  Isle of Wight champions Newport, well placed at 40-1 after five overs, completely lost their way against some tight Hook bowling.  Ben Allnutt took 2-31, while Shane Brewer, Ben Thane and Glen Williams all bowled tidily.
Hook saw Thane run out in the third over, but when Joe Allnutt (26) and Matt Love (27 not out) lashed 21 runs off the fourth over, the game was up for Newport.  Hook took their eye off the ball in the closing stages, but got home by two wickets with three overs to spare.
