AYLING DEPARTURE PROMPTS HANTS ACADEMY CHANGES
HAMPSHIRE have reshuffled their coaching staff following the departure of bowling coach Jon Ayling, who will take up a teaching role at Dauntsey’s School in Wiltshire from April. Having helped Hampshire win three one-day trophies before injury ended his playing days prematurely, Ayling returned in a coaching capacity a few years ago. He hopes to return to coach during school holidays. Ayling said: “I've been incredibly fortunate to represent the club as a player and as a coach. I had always intended at some stage to make the transition to working as cricket professional at the right school as it would suit my family's needs. The post at Dauntsey’s is a very exciting opportunity.” Hampshire will be advertising for a new bowling coach and Academy boss Tony Middleton will now work with the first-team squad after being replaced by Bobby Parks. Former Ventnor captain Charlie Freeston will assist Parks with the Academy, who play in the ECB Southern Electric Premier League.
