SOUTHERN ELECTRIC 'CRICKETER OF THE MONTH' AWARDS - JULY 2011

Teenager Michael Porter is the ECB Southern Electric Premier League’s youngest ever Cricketer of the Month award winner.
The 16-year old Poole Grammar School student has won the July silver salver after hitting 229 runs last month, including three half-centuries.  Porter made an unbeaten 75 at Bashley (Rydal), and separate scores of 64 in Bournemouth’s matches against Andover and South Wilts.  He has scored almost 600 runs in his debut Premier League season, but may miiss Bournemouth's match against the Hampshire Academy due to a split webbing between his fingers.
Former Hampshire cricketer Derek Kenway gets the Division 2 award after fronting-up Burridge’s brave battle to avoid relegation.  Kenway has hit an unbeaten 144 to underpin an amazing run chase against Hook & Newnham Basics, and two other scores of fifty or more for Burridge against Bournemouth II (67) and Hambledon (70) – and taken nine wickets !
His efforts have enabled Burridge to claw their way off the SPL2 basement, though they are still in serious trouble at the bottom.
Sparsholt’s Lewis Dunford claims the Division 3 prize after equally fine performances in the Winchester club’s successful bid to pull clear of relegation.  Dunford, 21, hit half-centuries against Hursley Park (65) and Trojans (62), besides making important knocks against Fareham & crofton and United Services in a 200 run tally – without once being dismissed !
The trio will will receieve their awards from Southern Electric's Sponsorship Manager Huw Lock before Tuesday's Southern Electric twenty20 Cup final at the Rose Bowl, which starts at 7 o'clock.
