NEW MILTON TRIO SCOOP INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

New Milton trio David Wheeler (right), Eric Linge (left) and Tom Prodomo (centre) have scooped all three top individual performance awards in Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2. Wheeler’s unbeaten 121 against Andover – his third league century of the season – clinched the batting award. The New Milton captain finished with 837 runs. Eric Linge, who took 36 wickets, nicked the bowling award off team-mate Ryan Beck, while Promodo snared 33 victims behind the stumps, an all-time SPL2 record. South Wilts’ opener Tom Morton (South Wilts) and Bournemouth all-rounder Matt Metcalfe won the SPL1 batting and bowling awards, respectively, with Charlie Cooke winning the Golden Gloves award for the top wicketkeeper. Western Australia’s Michael Johnson, who played for Hambledon, predictably won the SPL3 batting prize, while the bowling and wicketkeeping awards were shared. Seasoned Bashley (Rydal) II all-rounder Neil Taylor shared the bowling prize with Tichborne Park’s Australian paceman Brenton Edwards – both took 33 wickets – while Sarisbury’s Andy Reading finished level with Fair Oak’s Aussie Stuart Martin in the keeping stakes. The awards will be presented at the Premier League dinner at the Southampton Novotel on October 22.
