WILL’S 65-BALL CENTURY SWEEPS ANDOVER TO THE TITLE

Will Prozesky smashed a blistering 107 off 65 balls as Andover clinched the Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2 championship with a crushing five-wicket win over Paultons at London Road.
It means the town club will regain the ECB Premier Division status it temporarily lost upon relegation at the end of last season.
They will go back into Division 1 as champions, having won 13 of their 15 completed matches, and losing only two.
“This is an incredible achievement for a side that lost over half their players over the winter and demonstrates the fantastic spirit within the club,” beamed Andover chairman Paul Funnell.
“The Premier League is the highest standard of cricket available to club sides and Andover deserve to be there.
That “lucky 13th” win came on the back of Prozesky’s six-strewn 107 – the former Havant and Purbrook opener ensuring Andover clinched their title winning win before the wet weather finally closed in.
Richard Taylor won an important toss and was soon celebrating as Luke Graham (2-39) removed Paultons’ opening pair Simon Ennew and Stuart Magee at 28-1 and 31-2.
Rob O’Brien (15) and Dean White (28) consolidated affairs to lift Paultons to 90-3, but Taylor, amid a fine spell of 2-11 in ten overs, dismissed both players.
Tony Richman (22) initiated mid-innings repairs and helped the visitors on to 125-4.
New Zealander James O’Gorman (3-25) started the late collapse as the Paultons tail fell away without a great deal of resistance, Jonty Hadfield (3-25) claiming three of the last six wickets that fell for only 28 more runs.
Cil Van der Merwe claimed four catches behind the stumps.
Paul Wilde quickly removed dangerman Ali Hooper, but Prozesky was in no mean to hang about with the weather closing in.
He and O’Gorman added 115 for the second wicket – Prozesky scoring 90-odd of them.
His century came off just 65 balls and contained seven sixes.
Tony Richman (3-15) sparked a mid-innings collapse as Andover lost five wickets before clinching victory – and the title !
