VENTNOR 2ND XI WIN TITLE AFTER LATE DRAMA
Ventnor 2nd XI have been crowned Hampshire League, County Division 3 champions after a dramatic two-wicket win over Southampton Community, who reduced the Islanders to 123-8 while defending 191. But Adam Wilson's unbeaten 58 turned the tide and earned Ventnor a 15th straight win and the championship. Rowledge II and St Cross Symondians II will be promoted alongside Ventnor. South Wilts II suffered their second defeat in three matches when Ryde successfully defended 151 (Tom Cowley 4-25) to beat them by 19 runs. SW were cruising through Owain Phillips (44) and Warren Humphries (37) but collapsed from 76-1 to 132 all out with Tom Morgan and Lawrence Tolfrey each taking four wickets. Fawley and Waterlooville, both vying for the runners-up spot, had their games washed out.
