ACADEMY CAPTAIN HOWELL MAKES WINNING HAMPSHIRE DEBUT

Benny Howell, 21, who captains the successful Academy in the Southern Electric Premier League, made his full Hampshire debut in the Sky Sports televised CB40 League victory over Leicestershire under the Rose Bowl floodlights last night. Academy left-arm seamer Chris Wood took 3-39 as Leicestershire made 177-8 in a rain-cut 35 overs. Howell was caught behind for 12, but after a few scares along the way Hampshire, courtesy of a Neil McKenzie half-century, won the match.
