COWDREY STARS AS HAMPSHIRE U17s LOSE TO KENT

Fabien Cowdrey, son of former Kent captain Chris Cowdrey and grandson of the late Lord Colin Cowdrey, produced a superb individual performance as Kent beat Hampshire by 26 runs in yesterday's ECB Under-17 County Championship semi-final.

Cowdrey hit a sparkling 114 as Kent posted 252-9 (Owen Alsop 3-44) and later took 4-30 as Hampshire were dismissed for 226.  Robert Gibson (56)and Chris Stone (42) gave Hampshire a healthy start, but wickets fell in the quest for runs.  The teams meet again in a two-day County Championship match at May's Bounty, Basingstoke, on Tuesday and Wednesday, 11am.
