SOUTH AFRICAN TO BOOST VENTNOR PACE BOWLING OPTIONS

Newly promoted Ventnor have lined up 23-year old South African pace bowler Sean Nowak to spearhead their attack in the ECB Southern Electric Premier League this summer. Nowak, from Pretoria, plays for Northerns in the CSA Challenge, having debuted for Northern Titans in the SuperSport Challenge in 2009. He has twice enjoyed four-wicket returns for Northerns.  Nowak will replace Nono Pongolo as Ventnor's overseas player. Pongolo, who spent the last two summers at Steephill, is studying human sleeping patterns at a Johannesburg university and is earmarked for an Honours Degree.
Nowak's arrival comes as part of a triple bowling boost for Ventnor, who earned a long awaited promotion by finishing runners-up to Rowledge in SPL2 last season.  Both Mark Holmes and Andy White, who missed the 2008 season, are understood to be fit again and will join the returning Ben Woodhouse, who will contest the wicketkeeping slot with Mark Whyte. Woodhouse played for Totton & Eling last season and, ironically, could make his Ventnor comeback in the SPL1 opener at Southern Gardens on 1 May 2010.
