RUN FEST AS HAMPSHIRE THRILL BUMPER HARTLEY WINTNEY CROWD

It literally rained fours and sixes on Hartley Wintney's historic Cricket Green - a staggering 40 sixes being hit amid the 724 runs scored when Hampshire's Friends Provident Trophy semi-final side visited the Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2 club on Friday.

In a 30-overs per side match, Hampshire piled up a thumping 374-9 - Michael Carberry hitting 100, Chris Tremlett (86), Dimitri Mascarenhas (56), David Griffiths (50) and Sean Ervine (40) - but Hartley Wintney made 350-6 in reply, with Roy Cockram cracking 136, Richard Norris (68) and Will Phillips boosting his Hampshire Under-16 claims with an unbeaten 54.  Jack Cockram claimed three wickets, while elder brother Roy prefixed his century with three superb catches in the outfield.

Well over 1,500 spectators crammed on to the marquee-lined Cricket Green for a wonderful afternoon of cricket in the sun - and well played Hampshire for the manner they approached and played the game !
