ELECTRIC CUP QUARTER-FINAL DRAW

Portsmouth & Southsea's reward for knocking Totton & Eling out of the Southern Electric Twenty20 Cup is a home quarter-final tie against Andover at St James's Park, Southsea, on Sunday week, July 12.
Cup holders Bournemouth travel to the Isle of Wight to play Ventnor, while the Twenty20 "kings of the Forest" will be decided at the BCG, where Bashley (Rydal) host near neighbours Lymington.  Ironically, the teams also meet in the New Forest CCA President's Cup final at Langley Manor two days earlier.
The winners of this Sunday's delayed second round tie between Portsmouth and Hambledon (St Helen's, 3.30pm) will host Alton in the quarter-finals.
The quarter-final draw is -
Bashley (Rydal) v Lymington at the BCG
Portsmouth or Hambledon v Alton at St Helen's, Southsea or Ridge Meadow
Portsmouth & Southsea v Andover at St James' Park
                                                     Ventnor v Bournemouth at Steephill
The semi-finals, to be played on 'home' grounds, are on 2 August, with the Twenty20 final under the Hampshire Rose Bowl floodlights on Wednesday 19 August at 7 o'clock.

P & S PULL OFF MAJOR ELECTRIC CUP SHOCK AS DYER SMASHES CENTURY

Rowan Dyer smashed an unbeaten 34-ball century as Portsmouth & Southsea sprang a massive Southern Electric Twenty20 Cup second round shock, beating Totton & Eling by nine wickets in front of a shell-shocked Southern Gardens crowd.
Dyer cracked nine sixes and ten fours in a blistering 106 not out which, with Dave Upton (58) alongside in a 165-run opening stand, swept P & S past Totton’s 175-6 (James Manning 58).
Portsmouth & Southsea’s win, in their first season in the competition, was even more remarkable in as much that they fielded six teenagers in their side.
Totton & Eling 175-6 (Manning 58, Norris 31, Banks 27, Franklin 27)
Portsmouth & Southsea 178-1 (Dyer 106, Upton 58)
Portsmouth & Southsea won by nine wickets.
Beaten semi-finalists last season, Alton put paid to South Wilts’ Twenty20 chances with a comfortable 49-run win at the Jubilee Ground.
Dave Taylor (66) and Ryan Hale (34) gave Alton a flying start, which Michael Heffernan (37) and Scott Myers (27) subsequently improved.
South Wilts’ prospects of overhauling 191-6 effectively ended when James Hayward was given out hit wicket after launching a six on to the Watercress Line railway embankment.
Alton 191-6 (Taylor 66, Heffernan 37, Hale 34, Myers 27, Draper 3-28)
South Wilts 142-9 (Wade 47, Evans 3-32)
Alton won by 49 runs.
Bashley (Rydal) got through by the skin of their teeth, beating neighbours New Milton by three runs in a New Forest thriller at Fernhill.
Gavin Bailiff (59) top scored in Bashley’s 166-4, which just proved enough as New Milton reached 163-4 in reply.
Bashley (Rydal) 166-4 (Bailiff 59, Jones 39, Thurgood 33)
New Milton 163-4 (Freeman 45, Wheeler 43, L Beck 29)
Bashley (Rydal) won by three runs.
Hursley Park finished six runs short in their bid to overhaul Lymington’s 121 all out at the Quarters, finishing with 115-9.  Derek Manning needed to hit a six off the last ball to win the game, but his shot dropped 20 yards short of the boundary rope.  Spinner Ollie Green took 6-22.
Lymington 121 (Hunt 24, Green 6-22)
Hursley Park 115-9 (Wheeler 32, McDermott 27, Pain 3-23)
Lymington won by six runs.
A century second-wicket stand between Ian Hilsum (97) and Neil Westhorpe (79) underpinned Ventnor’s daunting 195-4 and set up a 59-run win over plucky Fareham & Crofton at Steephill.
Kevin Light hit a valiant 66 for Fareham.
Ventnor 195-4 (Hilsum 97, Westhorpe 79)
Fareham & Crofton 136-6 (Light 66, M Gould 21)
Ventnor won by 59 runs.
A four-wicket new ball burst by Richard Taylor broke the back of the Hook & Newnham Basics batting and guided Andover to a 17-run win at the King George V Ground.
Ben Allnutt and Keith Lovelock hit half-centuries as Hook rallied from 49-6 to make 148-9 in reply to Andover’s 165.
Andover 165 (A Hooper 27, R Miller 26, M Miller 25)
Hook & Newnham Basics 148-9 (Allnutt 52, Lovelock 51, Taylor 4-21)
Andover won by 19 runs.
Cup holders Bournemouth ripped Burridge out for 42 before cruising to a nine-wicket win at Chapel Gate. Burridge, from 22-0, collapsed to 42 all out - Mark House, Simon Ridley and David Payne doiung the damage for the cup holders.   Nick Park hit 32 not out as Bournemouth took 7.1 overs to knock off the runs.
Portsmouth’s tie against Hambledon – delayed because of the Village Cup – will be played at St Helen’s, Southsea next Sunday (3pm).

TOWERS BLITZ GIVES HAVANT ELECTRIC CUP SHOCK TREATMENT

Western Australia opener Luke Towers struck a power-packed 99 as Totton & Eling sent Havant crashing to a 57-run Southern Electric Twenty20 Cup first round defeat at Havant Park.
The Melville youngster, in rich form for Hampshire 2nd XI of late but surprisingly lacking in SPL runs for the Eeels, treated the Sunday teatime crowd to a perfectly paced innings. He barely struck a four during the first half of his knock, but let rip a boundary blitz late on. He shared a significant stand with James Manning (54) as Totton, last season's beaten finalists, effectively batted Havant out of the game with 187-3 in 20 overs.
Havant lost Steve Dean first ball and gradually subsided to 130-9, with last pair Phil Loat and Jez Ord salvaging some pride from an incepid performance.  Rob Franklin took 3-16 as Havant closed at 130-9.
Bashley (Rydal), who visit Havant in the ECB National Club Championship zone semi-final next Sunday (June 14), beat Paultons by six wickets in yesterday's other opening round tie.
Neil Taylor and Ross Grierson each took three wickets as Paultons were restricted to 116-7 - a target Bashley polished off with Gavin Bailiff (44) and Andy Sexton (36) at the helm.
The bulk of the Electric T20 Cup first round ties will be played this coming Sunday afternoon, although the matches between Andover and Rowledge (6pm) and Fair Oak and Hambledon have been delayed until June 21 as the ties clash with Village Cup county finals.
